
The Corn Exchange Gallery is Edinburgh’s newest showcase for the arts. Dedicated to emerging artists, you can always rely on a radical, thought-provoking spectacle.
Developing a visual identity for an art gallery is a real challenge for any design agency. Establishing a format that allowed inventiveness to shine through was key – this was achieved by devising a consistent frame inside which different artists could express themselves.
We spoke at length with artists to find what they wanted to convey, and how our promotional material could support their ideas. The basic themes of art – light, colour, surface and so on – became the guidelines for our concepts.
As well as the gallery’s branding, we produced accompanying material for various Corn Exchange shows, which earned us a commendation at the 2006 Scottish Design Awards.
